Improve Visibility Part 3B: Brainstorming your what

Brainstorming your what

The next step to writing a press release is to define your what. What do you want to say? What message is critical to get across to the reader? Answering these questions in the brainstorm process can help make sure that you include all the critical points in your press release, either in the message itself. Or the quote or both.

In the brainstorm process, the what for Syrian Refugee Dinner is communicating that they have an event. The release will include specifics like why the dinner is important, which significant personalities are attending, who will be the general audience. Brainstorming helps clarify the what's you'll need to weave into your press releases. This helps ensure that critical points make it into the press release to best educate the target readers.
